Armed robbery rate drops 11%, but is still not low enough

The number of armed robberies in the Netherlands fell by 11% last year but the figure is still too high, justice minister Ivo Opstelten told MPs on Wednesday.

Last year, there were 2,572 armed robberies. The government has a target of a maximum 1,900. One new measure will be the setting up of a special armed robbery unit within every police force, Opstelten said.
