Another buyer emerges for threatened Oss R&D

Dutch biotech firm Pantarhei Biosciences has approached US pharmaceuticals giant Merck about taking over much of its operations in Oss, the Financieele Dagblad reports on Monday.

Merck is closing down its Organon research department and one production line in the Netherlands, with the loss of over 2,000 jobs.
Pantarhei director Herjan Coelingh Bennink told the Financieele Dagblad he had the backing of large international private investors to take over the Oss operations which focus on women’s health.
Pantarhei itself was spun off from Organon in 2007.
Last week, local newspapers reported Japanese firm Takeda was on the verge of clinching a deal to take over some of the Organon operation.
A decision is due on Tuesday, the FD says.
