Thousands of Reve writings to come up for auction
Thousands of manuscripts by Dutch writer Gerard Reve are to be auctioned by his surviving partner Joop Schafthuizen, Nos tv reports.
The manuscripts include unpublished works, such as writing’s about Reve’s youth.
Schafthuizen has not yet found an auction house to take care of the sale, but says the money raised will go to support blind children.
Reve, considered one of the great three in Dutch postwar literature alongside W.F. Hermans and Harry Mulisch, died in 2006.
De avonden (The Evenings, 1947) and De vierde man (The Fourth Man, 1981) are among his best-known books.
