Psychiatrists arrested in social benefit fraud investigation
Four men have been arrested in connection with a major fraud involving special benefits for people with serious health problems, news agency ANP reports.
Two of the four are psychiatrists who are suspected of faking diagnoses to allow people to claim extra government cash. The total amount involved is several million euros, the public prosecution department in Rotterdam said.
The police investigation began a year ago.
The men who have been arrested are aged between 37 and 57. During the raids on homes and other premises, police found two guns and more than €100,000 in cash.
