Dollar takes over from guilder on Dutch Caribbean islands
The Dutch Carribbean islands of Bonaire, St Eustatius and Saba now have the US dollar as their official currency and the guilder is expected to be out of circulation within a week, news agency AP reports.
The conversion comes after the official break-up of the Netherlands Antilles. The three islands now have the status of Dutch local councils.
