‘This is the best we can do,’ says railway boss

The railway instrastructure is as ready as possible for winter but this does not mean there will not be problems, ProRail CEO Bert Klerk says in an interview with the Volkskrant.

State-owned ProRail runs the network and NS deals with passengers.
Klerk said he understood that travellers are angry about the snow-related chaos on the railways at the weekend and said he was sorry they had not been given better information.
‘Some 87% of trains run on time… this is the best we can do under the current circumstances,’ Klerk said.
Toilets
Meanwhile, the NS said on Wednesday it will not order any more trains without toilet facilities. The company had been planning to phase out toilets on trains used for short journeys.
But protests by MPs and railway workers unions have reversed that decision.
