Sinterklaas shoppers break direct debit records
People buying presents and food for the Sinterklaas celebrations on Sunday made over 10 million purchases using direct debit cards at the weekend, payment processor Equens said.
However, the absolute daily record was booked a week ago, when shoppers made 9.8 cashless payments on Saturday alone – or 381 transactions per second.
