Police chief suspended following inappropriate tweets

Zuidwest-Drenthe police chief Gerda Dijksman has been suspended after using the microblogging service Twitter to comment on a double death in Meppel, the Telegraaf reports.

‘I just heard two people have been found dead in Meppel. In my district it would probably have been domestic violence,’ Dijksman wrote.
The couple were in fact killed by carbon monoxide poisoning.
Dijksman came under fire at the end of August for describing the anti-Islam PVV as a fascist party.
The Telegraaf said an internal investigation had begun into the police chief’s ways of working.
