Boskalis offers Smit pension fund one-off €30m
Dredging firm Boskalis is prepared to put €30m into the pension fund of its port services subsidiary Smit, heading off the threat of pension cuts next year, the Financieele Dagblad reports.
Boskalis announced the one-off payment a day after it emerged pensioners are planning to take the company to court, alleging mismanagement.
They are angry that the fund is planning to cut pensions by 13.2% and accused new owner Boskalis of failing to meet commitments.
Boskalis said the payment was conditional on the legal action being dropped.
