The Dutch made a difference in Uruzgan
The Netherlands made a ‘positive difference’ over the past four years in the Afghan province of Uruzgan, according to a report published on Tuesday by the independent agency TLO.
The Dutch military mission in Tarin Kowt, Deh Rawod and Chora made progress in the areas of safety and development work, says the report.
Whether their efforts have a lasting effect depends on the approach of the Americans and Australians who took over in Uruzgan on August 1. There is still a lot to be done, the report says.
It was the decision to end the military mission that caused the Dutch cabinet to fall in February 2010.
