Solomon Burke dies at Schiphol airport

The body of soul singer Solomon Burke, who died at Schiphol airport on Sunday evening, will be returned to his family in the US later this week after formalities have been completed.

Burke, 70, came to the Netherlands to perform a concert at the Paradiso concert hall in Amsterdam with local band De Dijk. Burke and the band had put together an English version of De Dijk songs called Hold on Tight.
Tuesday’s concert will go ahead as a tribute to the American, the band said in a statement.
