Philips books strong third quarter
Electronics giant Philips booked net profit of €524m in the third quarter of 2010, boosted by the sale of its shares in NXP and a ‘good’ performance by its healthcare and lighting divisions.
In the same quarter of 2009, net profit reached €176m. The sale of shares in chip maker NXP generated a book profit of €154m, Philips said in a statement.
Sales rose 10% to €6.16bn but turnover in developing markets grew 19%.
