One in five open view houses had no visitors

One in five of the 47,000 houses and flats which opened their doors to prospective buyers on Saturday had no visitors at all, the Telegraaf reports on Monday.

In total, 125,000 people interested in buying a new home took part in Saturday’s open day, down 10,000 on the March event, the NVM estate agents association said.
But although visitor numbers were down, people were more positive, the NVM said. In March there was great uncertainty about the future of mortgage tax relief but the new government has said it will not bring in any changes.
Some 185,000 homes in the Netherlands are currently up for sale. Some 32% have been on the market for more than a year.
