Fewer hats this year, as caretaker ministers show restraint
The traditional budget day display of extravagant hats by ministers and MPs was more muted this year, with members of the caretaker cabinet opting not to wear hats at all.
According to news agency ANP, ministers and the wives of the male ministers reached an informal agreement not to go overboard with their headgear this year because the current political climate requires a more sober approach.
