You’ve got it wrong, Labour leader tells cabinet negotiator Lubbers

Labour leader Job Cohen has told the queen’s cabinet negotiator Ruud Lubbers that he has got it wrong to present a VVD CDA minority cabinet with PVV support as the best option for a new government.

Speaking after a short meeting with Lubbers, a three-times prime minister for the CDA, Cohen said he finds it ‘amazing’ that Lubbers has gone for the minority cabinet option when the queen had commissioned him to find a workable majority.
Cohen said he was prepared to look into the formation of a majority CDA VVD and Labour cabinet, even though he did not feel it would be the best option.
And he accused Liberal leader Mark Rutte of blocking any other option than a right wing alliance with the PVV.
No options
Rutte said in an interview with the Telegraaf on Monday he is only willing to enter talks on forming a right-wing government with the CDA.
‘I am no longer available for any other variants,’ Rutte said, effectively slamming the door on anything but a minority VVD CDA government .
Rutte said it is incomprehensible that Labour leader Job Cohen is now crying ‘crocodile tears’ about the decision to hold formal talks on a right-wing government. ‘He blocked the idea of a Labour, Liberal CDA cabinet and did not want the purple plus variant either,’ Rutte was quoted as saying.
