Temps agencies positive for seventh month in a row

Nearly all temporary employment agencies are expecting to expand their payroll over the next three months, the national statistics office CBS said on Monday.

Just 2% expect their workforces to contract, the CBS said. August is the seventh month in a row that staffing agencies have been optimistic about expansion.
But other business service sector firms are less positive, with architects and civil engineering firms the least optimistic about improvements in the economy, the CBS said.
Unfit for work
Meanwhile, the Financieele Dagblad reports there has been an ‘explosive’ increase in the number of people on temporary and seasonal employment contracts being declared unfit for work.
The cost of paying invalidity benefits to people on flexible employment contracts will rise to €285m next year, up from €144m in 2009, according to figures from the UWV benefits agency.
The paper does not say what is behind the rise.
