Queen talks to advisors before cabinet talks move on
Queen Beatrix is holding talks with her permanent political advisors on Wednesday morning – the chairs of the upper and lower house of parliament and the deputy chairman of the council of state.
This means she has not yet accepted cabinet negotiator Ruud Lubbers’ recommendation that VVD party chairman Ivo Opstelten take over the formation process, Nos tv says.
MPs have been recalled from holiday to debate Lubber’s roles as cabinet negotiator later today. Left-wing parties are angry that Lubbers opted to back a minority government, when the queen had commissioned him to look for a stable cabinet with majority support in parliament.
