Mortgage interest rates under investigation

The Dutch competition authority NMa is looking into mortgage interest rates, which are much higher in the Netherlands than in the rest of Europe.

The NMa is investigating the level of interest rates, how margins are calculated and if there is any sign of cartel forming, reports Friday’s Telegraaf. The results will be published in October.
Around 80% of the Dutch mortgage market is in the hands of the four biggest banks.
