Missing stamp costs student place at medical school
A 17-year-old would-be student was rightly rejected for a place at medical school because he forgot to put a stamp on the self-addressed envelope which was part of his application, a court in Almelo ruled on Tuesday.
Niels Grote Beverborg went to court after the student admissions organisation DUO rejected his application because of the missing stamp.
The boy had scored an average of 8 out of 10 in his final school exams, meaning he automatically qualified for a place. Medicine is an oversubscribed subject and all but the best students have to take part in a lottery to be admitted.
Grote Beverborg says he will now sign up for a related study and will reapply to study medicine next year.
