Maxeda to split up retail operations

Retail group Maxeda is to sell off shop operations V&D/LaPlace, de Bijenkorf, Hunkemöller and M&S as separate entitites, the company confirmed on Tuesday.

Maxeda said in February it had embarked upon a strategic reorientation of its retail operations.
The company also said on Tuesday it had booked improved results in the first half of its current book year, with net sales up 1.6% at €1.57bn.
Maxeda is owned by private equity groups KKR, Cinven, Alpinvest and Permira. They bought, delisted and rebranded the Vendex KBB group in 2004.
