There are about two million people who find it difficult or impossible to use the public transport chip card, according to Labour politician Gohdar Massom in Monday’s Telegraaf. He wants public transport companies to do something about it.

Massom, who is a member of the provincial government in North Holland, says people who cannot read, the visually handicapped and mentally handicapped cannot read the information on the scanners. Many of these people were able to use public transport with the paper tickets, he says.
The politician says it would help if the information was not only visual but audible. Better sound signals would also help.
He wants an evaluation of the card and its use by these sections of society and for the public transport companies to find a solution so these people are not robbed of their independence, says the paper.
