Evidence on diamonds contradicted at tribunal – Update

British model Naomi Campbell received five or six uncut diamonds from warlord Charles Taylor, her former agent Carole White told the war crimes tribunal in The Hague on Monday afternoon, reports the Daily Telegraph.

Miss White told the tribunal that Miss Campbell was expecting the gift, which was delivered late at night to her room with Miss White present.
Last Thursday Miss Campbell told the court she was not expecting the gift and had been given a small pouch containing a few dirty stones.
On Monday morning actress Mia Farrow also contradicted the model’s evidence, saying Miss Campbell had told her men representing Taylor had given her diamonds following a dinner hosted by Nelson Mandela in 1997, which all three women attended.
Former Liberian president Charles Taylor faces 11 charges of war crimes. It is alleged that he used ‘blood’ diamonds to finance the civil war in Sierra Leone.
