Eureko books strong profit
Insurance group Eureko, owner of Achmea and Interpolis, announced on Tuesday a net profit of €864 mln in the first half of 2010, up from €115 mln in the year earlier period.
The settlement with the Polish government in respect of insurer PZU was a major factor in this increase. Eureko sold 20% of its shares in May for €726 mln. It retains a 13% interest in the Polish insurer.
Premium income also showed a modest increase, to just over €10.7 bn.
