Egg freezing service okay, say gynaecologists

Women should be allowed to freeze their eggs for use at a later date, a committee of embryologists and gynaecologists has told health ministere Ab Klink, Nos tv reports.

Klink had asked the doctors for their advice after the AMC teaching hospital in Amsterdam said it planned to offer egg freezing services to women who wanted to delay having children.
However, the doctors disagree with the AMC’s age limit of 50. They say eggs should only be replanted in women up to the age of 45 because of the health risks.
