Dutch Rail (NS) and rail management company ProRail are each investing €30 mln in order to avoid the chaotic scenes of last winter, reports NRC on Sunday.

Before October 15, 2,000 of the points most in use will have their heating checked and, where necessary, repaired. During the winter period, teams will check the heating every night, says the paper.
For roads, suppliers of grit and salt are refilling their stocks. Eurosalt has increased its storage capacity by 20,000 tonnes, 10% more than in 2009.
