Dutch embassy in Bangkok under investigation
The foreign affairs ministry is investigating a possible corruption scandal involving passport applications at the Dutch embassy in the Thai capital Bangkok, the Telegraaf reports on Friday.
The ministry has confirmed officials are looking into events at the embassy but declined to give further details.
According to the Telegraaf, the ministry was alerted to problems at the embassy in June.
At the beginning of this year, the embassy brought the police in to investigate embezzlement by a member of the embassy’s financial staff who is thought to have stolen over €350,000 over 18 months. He has been jailed for 28 years, the paper says.
