The works council of pharmaceuticals company Organon will take its case against the plant’s reorganisation to the company court on September 2.

The company court agreed on Monday to a fast-track hearing to listen to the work’s councils objections to owner Mercks’ plans to move the R&D unit to the US and shut down production lines with the loss of 2,175 jobs.
The works council says Merck failed to consult it properly about the job losses as it is required to do by law.
At the weekend, it emerged Organon’s supervisory board is also opposed to the closure.
