The Netherlands gave out €169bn in state pensions and social security benefits last year, or around €10,000 per person, the national statistics office CBS said on Monday.


Two-thirds of the money went on support for the elderly and the sick, the CBS said.
Last year’s spending on social security benefits was up €9bn on 2008.
