Soldiers who don’t want to be sent out to Afghanistan have been faking drugs problems so they get dismissed from the service, the AD reports on Monday.

The paper claims defence ministry figures show a steady increase in the number of drug-related discharge since 2007.
Dishonourable discharge is better than refusing to be posted, because that can lead to a jail term, the paper says.
Jan Keleian of the military union ACOM told the paper the rise was ‘notable’ because soldiers are more likely to deny than admit to a drug problem.
