Reed Elsevier looks to developing markets
Anglo Dutch publishing group Reed Elsevier is looking at growth opportunities in developing markets, CEO Erik Engstrom said on Thursday, following the publication of the company’s first half earnings.
And there are no plans for any far-reaching organisational revamps apart from those already under way such as the Reed Business Information division, Engstrom said in the Financieele Dagblad.
‘While we have seen an improvement in the general economic environment and the actions we are taking are beginning to bear fruit, recovery will be gradual as conditions remain constrained in many of our markets. Against this backdrop, I am pleased with the way our business is developing,’ Engstrom said.
Turnover was flat at €3.4bn in the first half, as was adjusted operating profit at €872m, the company’s financial statement shows.
