Free sector rental home rents fall nearly 10%
Housing rents for homes outside the rent controlled sector fell 4.3% over the past six months, bringing the annual decline to 9.7%, according to research by rental housing agency Pararius.
Prices are currently below the 2007 level, the research shows. Housing costing over €600 a month to rent is considered to be in the free sector, giving landlords more leeway what to charge.
Amsterdam remains the most expensive city to rent a home in, but even here rents have fallen by 7.1%, Pararius said. In The Hague, rents are down by 10.7%.
