Emerging markets boost Philips growth in second quarter
Philips booked €262m net profit in the second quarter of 2010, on comparable turnover up 12% at €6.2bn, the electronics giant said on Monday.
Turnover rose particularly strongly in developing markets, Philips said.
The consumer lifestyle division booked €2.2bn in sales, profiting from higher televisison sales due to the World Cup.
Sales of led lighting almost tripled and the health division saw an improvement across the board, Philips said.
”It is encouraging to see that our performance continues to improve, despite ongoing weakness in many global markets and economic uncertainty,’ CEO Gerard Kleisterlee said in a statement.
