Net profit reached €736m between April and June, largely due to an increase in freight transhipments. Business travel was also up. Turnover rose 10.7% to €5.72bn.The company made an operating loss of €132m.
The Franco-Dutch airline said it expects to break even this year, excluding the effect of the airspace closure because of the Icelandic volcanic eruption.
‘Forward bookings for the second quarter are solid, but uncertainty surrounding the economic environment and the fuel price leads us to remain prudent for the second half of the year,’ the airline said in a statement.
