Two police dogs have died after being left in a police car in Rhenen, west of Arnhem, while their handlers dealt with a domestic disturbance.

The dogs were left in the specially-equipped car on Monday evening with air conditioning and motor switched on. However, the dogs were dead when their handlers returned to fetch them.
A defective air circulation system is a possible cause, news agency ANP said.
