KLM boss unhappy at Schiphol’s EasyJet flirtation

KLM chief Peter Hartman is unhappy at overtures made by the Schiphol airport authority to budget airline EasyJet, the Parool reports on Thursday.

‘This sort of low cost activity does not belong at Schiphol because no new destinations are added to the network,’ Hartman told the paper.
The Parool says Schiphol is trying to persuade EasyJet to set up a complete operation at the airport, including making it the home base for a number of aircraft.
But this goes against agreements made between the aviation sector and government two years ago, Hartman said.
In that deal, it was agreed that Schiphol would focus on developing a wide destination base and that cheaper, holiday flight activities would be concentrated at Lelystad and Eindhoven.
