School trip cancelled twice by ash cloud

Year eight pupils at the De Bron primary school in Dokkum have had their school leaving trip cancelled twice because of the volcanic ash cloud, the Telegraaf reports on Tuesday.

The 14 pupils and staff were supposed to go for a cultural trip to Finland on April 19, when airports were closed because of the volcanic erruption.
The replacement trip was booked for Monday, when Schiphol was also shut and their flight was again cancelled.
The school has now organised an alternative outing, to the Wadden Sea island of Ameland, the paper says.
