‘The court believes there is a chance the suspect could again commit a crime which could put the health and safety of others at risk,’ the judges said in a statement. ‘This also takes into account the accused’s previous convictions.’
The 39-year-old, a known vagrant, was arrested on charges of disturbing the peace. He was later charged with causing severe physical injury and threatening the queen.
At least 50 people were injured when the crowd stampeded after the man began shouting during the two minutes silence. His lawyer says the man regrets his actions and was drunk at the time.
