No champagne at wedding thanks to football
A private wedding party for 20 people will be alcohol free on Thursday because of the ban on drinking in central Rotterdam ahead of the second leg of the Dutch cup final, the Telegraaf reports.
The bride and groom rented the city centre restaurant months ago, but have been hit by the ban on alcohol aimed at preventing football related crowd trouble.
Despite pleas to the city council, officials have refused to budge, the paper says.
Rotterdam bar owners are going to court on Thursday morning in an effort to have the ban on drinking overturned. The ban is set to run from 14.00 hours to midnight.
Amsterdam’s Ajax and Rotterdam club Feyenoord meet again at 18.30 hours. Ajax won the first leg 2-0.
