Labour rules out coalition with PVV, Wilders attacks Cohen

Labour leader Job Cohen has ruled out being part of a new coalition government with Geert Wilders’ anti-Islam PVV.

In an interview with website nu.nl, Cohen said the PVV ‘has such a different view of the world than we do and envisages such a different society, which involves excluding people, that I cannot imagine working together’.
Cohen is currently on course to win 33 seats out of 150 in the June 9 election, making him leading contender to the next prime minister.

Meanwhile, PVV leader Geert Wilders, whose support has slumped to 18 seats, is launching a direct attack on the Labour leader in a tv advert, Metro reports.
The advert, which will be broadcast on tv on Tuesday evening, features aircraft landing at Schiphol airport superimposed with pictures of woman in headscarves. It goes on to say that Cohen is 100% pro-Islam, suppports radical mosques and wants an Islamic culture in the Netherlands.
Metro says it is the first time a political party in the Netherlands has adopted the ‘American’ tactic of directly attacking another party leader.
