No Fyra fee for NS season ticket holders
Commuters with a Dutch Rail season ticket will no longer have to pay an extra fee for using the Fyra high speed train between Amsterdam and Rotterdam following a protest by one rail user, the NRC reports on Tuesday.
Since the Fyra service started in September, NS has charged season ticket holders up to €20 to take the faster train.
But one traveller, law professor Laurens Winkel, pointed out to the NS that according to terms and conditions his season ticket is ‘valid for all inland trains… apart from Thalys (the high speed train to Paris).
After months of wrangling, the NS has conceded defeat and is to scrap the supplementary fee for all season ticket holders.
Fyra is currently travelling between the two cities at some 15% capacity.
