CDA rules out new coalition with Labour

Caretaker prime minister Jan Peter Balkenende on Tuesday ruled out forming a new coalition with the Labour party after the June 9 general election.

‘The voter would not understand it if we worked together again a couple of months after letting the cabinet collapse,’ he told television station RTLZ.
Labour pulled out of the cabinet at the end of February because of divisions over extending the Dutch military mission in Afghanistan.
Labour leader Wouter Bos said on Monday he could not imagine forming a new coalition with the CDA.
Based on the lastest polls, at least three parties will be needed to form a coalition with more than 75 seats in the 150-seat lower house of parliament.
