ANWB members back kilometer tax

Some 68% of members of car owners’ organisation ANWB back the introduction of a kilometer tax on motoring, the Telegraaf reports on Wednesday.

The organisation launched a poll of its four million members earlier this year, when the government was planning to introduce the tax from 2011.
However, a majority of members are opposed to an extra tax on rush-hour motoring, the paper says.
In addition, 56% think an increase in petrol taxes would be a good alternative to the kilometer charge.
The kilometer charge has been put on ice following the collapse of the government.
