Labour leader Bos will not become an MP

Labour leader Wouter Bos has decided not to ask a sitting Labour MP to give up his or her seat so he can enter parliament for the few weeks before the general election.

Bos told a tv talk show on Thursday night he planned to ´plunge´ into society instead. By talking to a complete cross-section of society, he hoped to find out what issues are alive in society at large, Bos said.
In addition, no controversial legislation is likely to progress through parliament before the election, making his presence unnecessary, the former finance minister said.
Bos is currently talking to the other 11 Labour ministers who quit at the weekend. Former integration minister Eberhard van der Laan and immigration minister Nebahat Albayrak have already said they are considering standing as MPs.
Former home affairs minister Guusje ter Horst has already ruled that out, saying she is too much of a manager to enter parliament.
The general election will be held on June 9.
