Dutch Eurovision entry finalised

The Netherlands’ entry for this year’s Eurovision song contest will be sung by unknown 17-year-old Sieneke.

Sieneke won the national song contest on Sunday night, during which five different singers performed their version of the Dutch entry Ik ben verliefd (Sha la lie) (I’m in love).
The song was written by 74-year-old Pierre Kartner, better known as Father Abraham and the inventor of the Smurfs. He had the casting vote in the contest.
The Netherlands last won the contest in 1975 with Teach In and Ding a Dong and has failed to qualify for the finals for the past five years.
