Man with syringe arrested at Schiphol

Schiphol airport police have arrested a 25-year-old Latvian who arrived on a flight from London with a syringe in his pocket, the Telegraaf reports on Monday.

The man was picked up after going on a shoplifting spree at the airport. He was not planning an attack, the paper said.
Earlier this month, there was uproar after it emerged a British journalist had been able to fly from Schiphol to Britain with a needle and syringe in his pocket. He made the journey just days after an attempt was made to blow up a plane heading from Schiphol to Detroit using a chemical injection.
The Latvian had 17 cartons of cigarettes when arrested. The syringe was in his jacket pocket, the paper says.
