Court again tears up paedophile banning order

Judges have torn up a second order ordering a convicted paedophile from his home, news agency ANP reports on Thursday.

This time judges said the ban imposed by the local mayor in Heuvelrug near Utrecht did not help create the stable environment necessary to prevent the man offending again.
Mayor Frits Naafs had ordered Systze van der Velde out of the holiday home he was living in, saying there was a real fear he may reoffend.
Van der Velde has three convictions for abusing young boys and is currently appealing against a five-year supervision order. Until that appeal process has been completed, Van der Velde cannot be put under the control of social workers.
A banning order imposed in Eindhoven in October was overturned by a judge who ruled the threat of social unrest and revenge attacks against Van der Velde is not enough to support a ban, nor are fears that he may offend again.
