Tros fined for sponsored kids tv show
The media commission has fined public broadcaster Tros €270,000 for breaking rules on sponsoring with its children’s tv show Bibaboerderij, Nos reports on Tuesday.
The commission says the show, aimed at two to six-year-olds, was largely paid for by supermarket group C1000, which is against sponsorship rules. According to the NRC, the 130 episodes of the show cost €4m, of which Tros paid less €200,000.
The commission also accused Tros of working together with C1000 on a range of products based on the show. C1000 sells a range of items, including hair gel, cakes and raisins using the Bibaboerderij name.
The show was cancelled in June.
