Dutchman takes over at British institution

Former Heineken executive Marc Bolland has been appointed new chief executive of British high street chain Marks and Spencer.

Bolland left Heineken after a 20 year career in 2006 to take over the top job at British supermarket chain Morrisons. At M&S, he replaces Stuart Rose, who has been under pressure from institutional investors because he holds the roles of both chairman and chief executive, the Financial Times said.
Bolland, 50, was born in Apeldoorn and joined Heineken as a graduate trainee, rising to chief operating officer.
