Online shops book 20% increase in sales
Online shops and agencies in the Netherlands sold goods and services worth €4.1bn in the first nine months of this year, a 20% increase on 2008, Nos tv reports on Wednesday, quoting home shopping organisation Thuiswinkel.nl.
Some three-quarters of the 11 million people who use the internet in the Netherlands buy goods and services online, the organisation’s director Wijnand Jongen told Nos. Household goods, insurance, clothes and toys all sold particularly well, Jongen said.
Travel company Thomas Cook booked the highest online turnover at €290m.
