FNV leader is most powerful woman

Agnes Jongerius, chairwoman of the country’s biggest trade union federation FNV, is the most powerful woman in the Netherlands, according to feminist magazine Opzij.

Jongerius dares to stick her neck out and is playing a crucial role in efforts to combat the economic crisis, the Opzij jury said.
In particular, Jongerius has been vociferous in her opposition to government plans to increase the state pension age to 67.
Other nominees includes European competition commissioner Neelie Kroes, Corus chairwoman Marjan Oudemans and Erica Terpstra, head of the Dutch sports association and Olympics committee.
